Retrospective of Lindsay Hayes
Welcome to the Retrospective exhibition of renowned artist Lindsay Hayes. Known for her eclectic range of art and her avid stance on non-conformity, it is said that one may not know they are witnessing a Hayes masterpiece or simply a knock-off. Famously, one artist claimed 'put your signature on it before Hayes does.' Arguably, her chequered past makes her a rock star to her fans and a menace to her peers. Presented by her oldest friend, join us as we peel back the paint on this roguish legend.
Creative Regions proudly presents 'Retrospective of Lindsay Hayes', a unique one-man show staged within an art gallery. Playwright and performer Rhys Williams began the journey of this production in 2019 with an idea to join his love of art and theatre together into a show celebrating a fictional artist.
Rhys has been part of our 'Empower' program supporting emerging artists to develop their practice, building capacity and opportunity.
The work began in earnest in July 2019 and was further developed in thanks to the 'Youth at the HeARTh' program within Arts Ablaze in October that year during Arts Ablaze, a regional arts conference held at the Scenic Rim. Rhys workshopped and presented the work-in-progress receiving strong support from delegates.
Rhys was then successful for a stART grant through Arts Queensland to engage ten artists to create the fictional works establishing a set for the one-man show. He has shown tenacity and commitment to this project throughout this pandemic and we are very proud to produce this work that shows promise to tour to other galleries in the future.
Presented at the Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery for four shows only from Friday October 23rd to Sunday 25th October 2020, this is a ticketed show meeting COVID guidelines so will be sure to book out.
