Corrugated

The term corrugated was chosen for this project as the ridges in corrugated roads and rainwater tanks are synonymous with regional Queensland. The highs and lows are representative of the challenges that are faced by small communities - particularly where Mother Nature is involved and a declaration of drought is upon it.

Residents of Gin Gin had the opportunity to participate in a series of free workshops where they created collaborative works including woven bees (using weed collected from the local creek), a nature serpent using eco-dyeing techniques, digital animations and sculptures that were featured at Light Up the Village.

Other people participated in performance workshops including song-writing, singing and circus stunts. These new skills were showcased at the event.

The workshops were themed to reflect the character of Gin Gin and the relationship the community has with their surroundings. The workshops aimed to provide an outlet for an engaging and positive experience for people to come together.

We also thank Gin Gin Landcare, Gin Gin Historical Society and the staff at the Gin Gin Library & Community Hub for their support.
