After many, many months of planning, design and construction, we are proud and excited to announce the Gavin Street Community Garden will be officially planted and launched on Saturday August 27th, from 8am to 10am.

Everyone is welcome to attend this free, community event. The morning’s program includes demonstrations by Bundaberg Organic Growers, presentations, giveaways and activities by Bunnings Warehouse, the planting of the Garden – including the special Bush Tucker bed which will be planted by local Elders and Indigenous youth – a free sausage sizzle, plus information and sales stalls.

Informative and inclusive, the program aims to cater to everyone from gardening enthusiasts to people who are passionate about our community and keen to know more about the transformation of that little patch of land next to the Railway Hotel. There’ll be opportunities to learn more about companion planting, wicking beds, and to get your hands dirty planting new herbs and vegetables into the new beds.

It has been hugely rewarding to see so many different community organisations, businesses and individuals team up to make the Gavin Street Community Garden possible. The Garden is a place activation initiative developed by Creative Regions with the wonderful support of the Bundaberg Regional Council. Additionally, we are hugely grateful for the generous support of the St John’s Grace Fund, the Railway Hotel, the Hinkler Lions Club, Bunnings Warehouse, Brendan O’Donnell Fencing, Trade Tools, and Sunfam.

We hope for a crowd on Saturday the 27th to help plant, launch, and celebrate the Gavin Street Community Garden!
