Goondiwindi Region
Creative Generators 2010
Visits were made to the Goondiwindi Region in early March. A meeting was held with the key Council contact and a Project Development Workshop was held attended by 7 arts sector representatives. The process of developing a strategic project was discussed as well as funding options.
The project ideas developed were:
- The creation of an event around the one touring show per year that the Goondiwindi Arts Council can present, to attraction more attention to the organisation and its activities
- To stage a film festival in Goondiwindi in 2011 to support the refurbishment of the cinema/theatre
- Development of a new exhibition space at the tourist information centre due to the lack of space for such activities in the region
The following is a summary of the 6 culture clinics attended by 7 arts sector representatives and 1 Chamber of Commerce representative held during the visit:
- Advice on collection policy revision, significance assessment training and an interpretation project for the Customs House Museum. The organisation was referred to their Museum Development Officer.
- Funding for skills development for a visual artist
- Discussion about product development for a performing arts group
- Training for volunteers at the Texas Art Gallery in exhibition installation. A link was made with the Stanthorpe Regional Gallery for potential collaboration.
- Funding for an event and inclusion of more arts activity
